All Are Welcome!
Welcome to Grace Lutheran Church! We are a community of people that gather together to hear and share the Good News of Christ’s love and grace in our lives. We come together as a community to worship God in a meaningful way that gives us the encouragement and strength to be sent into the world in service to those around us in word and action. Our family invites you to come and join us in experiencing community in Christ, centered in God’s love and grace.
A special thank-you to our students and adult leaders who took the time to participate in our trip to Chicago on January 21st. Our evening began with worship as we joined the people of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church at Grace Place in the South Loop. Following worship our students met Pastor Ben Adams who introduced us to the ministries of the “South Loop Campus Ministry”. Our students helped to prepare chicken noodle soup for the homeless population in the area. We filled the cooer with hot soup and put it in our shopping cart to participate in the “Takin' it to the Streets" ministry, delivering the hot soup to all in need. Not only did we help to provide a warm meal to those in need, but we also engaged the process of building community. We engaged our neighbors in need in conversation and extended mutual hospitality to each other on the streets of Chicago. It was an excellent experience for all who participated, and we give thanks for the People of Grace whose generosity made this experience possible.
The 1st Sunday of every month is designated as a “Generosity Sunday” wherein we will collect a special offering to send forth in service to a unique ministry (locally or globally). Last month $115 was collected and sent forth in support of the “South Loop Campus Ministry at Grace Place”. This month our collection on February 5th will go forth in support of the ELCA Hunger Appeal. According to the ELCA world hunger webpage (www.elca.org/hunger):
“Nearly 800 million people – that's 1 in 9 people in our world today – are hungry. As members of the ELCA, we are called to respond. We are a church that rolls up our sleeves and gets to work. Working with and through our congregations, in the United States, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands Lutheran churches overseas and other partners, ELCA World Hunger is uniquely positioned to reach communities in need. From health clinics to microloans, water wells to animal husbandry, community meals to advocacy, your gifts to ELCA World Hunger make it possible for the ELCA to respond, supporting sustainable solutions that get at the root causes of hunger and poverty.”
Please take time to consider helping to support this ministry as we send forth our gifts in mission to, and on behalf of, all of God’s children.
Come and join us!
